Name: Huilang Kao
Age: 17
True Form
Huilang is 5’10” and weighs 152 pounds. She will wear a variety of clothing, her favorite being multiple tribal outfits, not all of them the school approves of. She refuses to wear long pants or dresses. So in classes she wears a skirt and short sleeve uniform that was provided by the school, outside of classes, she wears whatever she wants. Her hair is a very pale tan, almost white and always just brushed back in a bit of a mess. Vary rarely will she stick it up in a ponytail or bun. Her eye color is a deep grey, the outer rim of the retina is lined with a blue. Her ears are slightly pointed, and can go almost unnoticed. She has a horn that does stick out of the top of her head, but she wears a special band around it that covers and protects it. Her actual horn is a gold color underneath the cover. The band also keeps her hair out of her face. She has a horse-like tail that is the same color as her hair. Her skin is tanned from being in the sun all the years with the tribe.
Race: Ki-lin
Magic Type: Enhancement- Huilang can increase other people’s abilities and power, not only the senses.
Ki-lin are also rumored to bring someone prosperity and fortune, eventually learn the power to use lightning, and the horn of Ki-lin can be broken, and if it is broken off, the creature dies. The scales of the Ki-lin in its true form are very strong, and are not easily damaged by swords.
Future Prediction: She wants to know and experience everything there is in this world, and maybe even become strong enough one day to get back to the dimension her parents came from.
Personality: Huilang is a very easy going girl, a little mischievous and fun loving. A majority of the time she is talkative and peaceful, and always wears a smirk or smile. However, she can get serious very quick if she needs to and fully prepared to fight. The change can be so sudden that others around her might become confused as to what just happened. She can practically sense when someone is wicked, and will immediately turn against them even without ever talking to them.
History: Creatures hailing from another dimension long ago, two Ki-lin passed through one of the portals a young summoner had conjured. The human summoner, all in tribal wear, wanted the Ki-lin to do his bidding and grant him power, and shouted at them, but they did not understand and refused, then took off on their own into this new world. They soon found out that living in this dimension would be much more difficult, but they could not return to their own, so they tried to cope with it. They began to grow weak, not sure what they could eat or drink in this world, and their true forms were giving off too much energy.
They came upon a forest, and noticed another creature feeding on the green leaves and grass. The male was first to reach up and taste it, and after deciding it did not harm their kind, they both began to feast. The food was still not enough, and the pair laid down together under one of the trees, exhausted. The female leaned her head against the male’s neck, ready to give in. He became worried, and tried to encourage her to continue her life. She could not find the strength. At that moment, he discovered a way to survive, and his body took on a new form. This form did not seep power like his true form. The female was shocked, and it gave her hope to survive. She tried it herself, and soon discovered the same power that her partner had. This dimension seemed to try to suck away their power if they stayed in their true form too long.
Once they were strong again, the pair left the forest and began to explore. They found that they could walk on the water, and crossed it to another island. They came across a tribe of humans, and at first, the humans feared these new creatures. The male remembered the first human they had met, and did not trust the tribe. The female however, could sense the good from these people, and offered her hands in a friendly gesture. A young child of the tribe stepped forward, curious to see the newcomers. The female bent down to meet the child at eye level, and offered her hands again. The child hesitated, but soon reached out and took her hand. She smiled, and then looked to her male counterpart. He looked appalled. She snorted at his ignorance and turned back to the child. The tribe slowly gained trust with her, and eventually they began to teach her how to speak. They gave both the Ki-lin clothes and shelter. Along with discovering this new speech, the couple gained names given to them by the tribe, it was something they did not have before in their world.
Yaoning was the name given to the female, and Julong was given to the male. Yaoning began to fit in well with the women of the tribe, often helping with their daily routines and learning from them when she could. Julong took much longer to trust the humans, and did not believe Yaoning should be spending so much time with them. She ignored his warnings, because she saw no harm in them.
Then one day, one of the women of the tribe who was walking with the group of women to the river to bathe, fell to the ground, exhausted and shouting in pain. Yaoning was with them, and all the women hurried to the fallen woman’s side. It was a woman who had been expecting a child, and she was going to give birth. The women quickly gathered what they needed, afraid to move her. Yaoning helped, but was confused as to what was going on. She had never seen this before. Soon, the woman gave birth, and Yaoning was amazed. She questioned the women of the tribe, and they were astounded that Yaoning had never known of it. Yaoning was filled with excitement, and went to tell Julong what had happened.
Years later, Yaoning had her own child. Huilang’s birth surprised the tribe most of all, but they accepted the child even more then they did Yaoning. Huilang was curious about everything even as a baby. In only a few years, she learned the language and how to play with the human children. At the age of twelve, her parents told her where she came from and what had happened. Huilang did not understand what they meant by “true form” and began trying to figure it out on her own. Eventually, she managed to be able to switch between the two, although using her true form made her exhausted. Huilang soon began questioning her parents about the rest of the world, but they did not have the answers, for they had not left the tribe in over seventy years (although they showed little or no signs of aging).
Huilang turned sixteen and asked permission to leave. Her parents worried, for their daughter had no more knowledge then they did of this world. They decided to travel with her at first, and all three said their thank yous and goodbyes to the tribe before leaving. They headed across the water to another island, this one much larger and much busier. There were so many new things they had never heard of. One thing that was repeated multiple times, was the name of a school that was on the island. Once Yaoning understood what a school was, she encouraged Huilang to join. It took over a year for the family to settle down into the city, and then for Huilang to finally start attending school. Her mother just hopes she can learn many new things and experience the world and all its new people.
